Research Overview
The Underrepresented Perspectives Laboratory (UP Lab) broadly examines stigma and how people with stigmatized identities navigate and interpret their social environments. Our approach to research is to prioritize the standpoint of people whose experiences and perspectives are often excluded or underrepresented in psychological research (e.g., LGBTQ+ people, people of color, older adults, and people with large bodies). The UP Lab's research draws from social psychological and feminist theories and methods to address contemporary social issues and promote social and political justice.
The below sections represent some current areas of thought within the lab.
